A 10-minute walk from Kiyosumi-Shirakawa Station, near the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, is the Scandinavian vintage shop “haluta tokyo.”

Furniture that has been maintained at the main store in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, is moved here and sold.

Don’t think of this as your typical recycling shop.

The owner, who has a background in apparel, has a unique eye for Japanese antique furniture and tools, as well as stylish furniture and miscellaneous goods in various styles, such as Scandinavian and mid-century modern.

Many of the items are reasonably priced, so you may find yourself wanting to buy everything in sight. Be careful not to overspend.
